Eva Myers had just given birth to a healthy baby girl, but she wasn’t ecstatic. Instead, she was seized by a panic unlike anything she had ever experienced.

Mellisa Strom McJunkin‘s insight:

I feel for these women. I really, really do. What worse time could there be to feeling depressed, anxious, etc than right after having a bab?

But the thing is, the problem with postpartum depression is that it is always due to a hormonal imbalance caused by pregnancy. The hormonal imbalance in the body WILL affect the brain. And of course, we all know the brain is the master control center for our thoughts, feelings, actions, judgements, etc.

Add on top of that sleep deprivation that every mother goes through, and wow… yes of course we are going to have a problem on our hands.

The answer to that of course is NOT antidepressants or talk therapy, but rather needs to begin with balancing out those out of whack hormones first.

And yes, it can and should be done.

Please if you know someone going through this right now, please let them know there is HOPE and no, they DO NOT need to suffer through it.
